"All the works on (Le Minh Tam's) thoughtfully conceived program were enhanced by scores by Mr. Silva, who combined electronic sounds with music for various string and wind instruments, played by him. What one heard always strengthened the impact of what one saw."

About Tony Silva
Tony Silva, the son of a Chilean father and a mother of Bulgarian decent, was influenced by ethnic music from an early age. His father, who played jazz piano, bought him a guitar at age 11. He taught himself to play and sing by age 15, and also learned mandolin, bass, and flute. Now he can play a wide variety of instruments which he uses in his compositions. Like a chameleon, Silva can mold himself into almost any musical environment. He specializes in combining acoustic and electronic timbers to create rich and lush sonic landscapes that are full of life.
He attended UMass, Amherst where he studied music theory and history. He also studied electronic music composition under award winning composer Charles L. Bestor.
Silva began composing and producing on an analog 4 track in 1982. He created his first piece of music for dance in 1988. Silva has composed sound scores for Lê Minh Tâm, In-Young Sohn, Yanira Castro, Michelle Marroquin, Suzie Heijari, Heidi Henderson and Ed Groff (among others), as well as music for his own choreography.
